The development of logistics routes, increasing the volume of transportation through the Baltic ports, rail and road transportation, as well as increasing the export of Ukrainian products were discussed at a meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine with the Latvian delegation.
This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Reconstruction, Ukrinform reports.
“We are grateful for the assistance provided to Ukraine by the Republic of Latvia from the first days of the large-scale invasion. We already have a number of joint developments on cooperation in the transport sector, which will not only increase the export potential of the state, but also stimulate the economic development of both countries,” said Acting Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Vasyl Shkurakov.
According to him, the issue is transit routes, railway and road infrastructure, as well as prospects for cooperation in the field of air traffic.
Representatives of the Latvian delegation, led by Minister of Economy Viktors Valainis, said that in 2024 Latvia would allocate €6 million to support infrastructure development in Ukraine. It is expected that a similar amount of support will be allocated for 2025.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of logistics chains, the creation of favorable financial and economic conditions, and the promotion of economic cooperation between the two countries.
Latvia is interested in strengthening economic ties, in particular, in replacing agricultural exports from Russia and developing export routes. It is expected that both Ukrainian exporters and Latvian partners will be offered a combined logistics solution that will include both land and sea transportation.
