The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine has called on the Parliament and the Government to consider and support the proposals submitted by its member companies to amend the customs code to ensure conditions for uninterrupted and timely customs clearance and to take measures to prevent possible negative consequences, Liga Zakon reports. The ability to receive and send goods without visiting a private customs terminal, according to the ATP, will allow businesses to reduce the negative impact of a number of factors in wartime, including:
- security risks associated with the accumulation of vehicles with goods in customs control zones during rocket attacks;
- interruptions in the work of customs and controlling authorities during air raids;
- reorientation of trade flows/relocation of business due to the military threat and occupation;
- prolonged power outages in the fall and winter season, when a significant number of manufacturing companies were at best able to operate only at night, while customs operated during the day.
