Customs clearance in the EU

The mechanism of customs clearance in the EU is harmonized and standardized among all members. Duties are the same everywhere. Some countries have permission to import certain groups of goods into the EU on a preferential basis – the so-called preference. If a country has a preference, the duty on a particular product is reduced or not charged at all. The preference can be used by submitting a certificate of origin Form to the local customs authority, https://logistics-ukraine.com.
Customs clearance is recommended to be done at least 3 days before the arrival of the goods to avoid delays in transportation or additional costs due to excessive storage of goods at the loading areas.
Customs clearance is possible both at the customs office itself – so to speak, from the wheels – and at the customs (transit) warehouse.
If you want to clear customs on the wheels, you can do it both at the border with the EU and at any other customs office. However, for the second option, you will first need to open a T1 transit declaration to the desired customs point. This T1 is closed with an ATC number during customs clearance.
If you choose the option with customs clearance at a customs (transit) warehouse, you also first open a T1, but it is closed not with an ATC number, but with an ATB number. The goods can be stored in a transit warehouse without customs clearance for up to 90 days. Then there are 3 options: either to clear the goods, or to transport them to another customs (transit) warehouse, or to transfer them virtually from the transit warehouse to the customs warehouse, where they can stay unlimitedly.
