The Austrian government is introducing a new program to support the trucking industry. Among the main measures is the abolition of nighttime restrictions for trucks, which should improve the situation with traffic jams and reduce CO₂ emissions.
According to etransport.pl, the initiative also includes support for the latest technologies. Markus Fischer, Chairman of the Freight Transport Association, noted that the program solves a number of long-standing problems in the industry.
Much attention is paid to environmental initiatives. The government plans to support the use of HVO100 (new generation biofuels) and expand the network of electric charging stations. This is expected to help companies switch to alternative fuels faster.
One of the key decisions was the abolition of the standard CO₂ emission tax (NoVA) for large vehicles. The permissible weight of empty electric vans has also been increased.
Transportation companies have been waiting for such changes for a long time. This will help them to implement environmentally friendly technologies faster.
